How true is truth???

Is truth a complete phenomenon? Can truth exist in isolation? Is truth subjective???

Questions which are so much a part of our lives that we live with them, walk, sleep, eat with them but do not want to answer them. Everyday we say thinks which suit, us or situations around us, which are neither lies nor truth. We live on this borderline where truth is too impractical and out dated to apply to our so called modern lives and lie is the heinous black thing we stay away from. Hence we live in a world of practical truths or half lies. We are not liars as we consider ourselves god fearing individuals however we are not stupid enough to speak 100% truth as that’s totally out of our way of functioning. The irony of the situation is that we have lost the meaning of truth in our translation of it.

Oxford dictionary defines it as a verified or indisputable fact, proposition, principle.
However, the point to verify it is in itself disputable.

Doesn’t truth vary from time to time? What is true today was a lie yesterday or vice versa. Then how shall we define the basic premise of this definition. Time is not the only factor that impacts truth but the interpretation of the person. Now, am I trying to add more variable to this already complex equation between truth and lies. Maybe yes. However, these variables are help me define the premise of truth. They tell me what can qualify as truth or its close relative, the half truth. Truth is not one mans exclusive right, thus each one of us can his or her own definition. Hence once again there will be a paradigm shift in the bases of whole debate and the hullabaloo about truth verses lies.

The third factor that impacts truth and its vital existence is a situation. I am indirectly pointing to the fact that there is something in this world called ‘situational truth’. Now something that should be indelible, imperishable, incorruptible, immortal, indissoluble and indestructible is amenable to time, person and situation. It would be highly unjust on my part to consider the equation (rather inequation) between truth and lie solved, on basis of three variables alone.

Our quest to discover beyond white and blacks shall continue, every turn of life shall make each one of us decide what is true and what’s not. As we learn at every bend of road, we make our discoveries and life teaches its lessons. Happy learning!!!

  3. truth is definitely variable these days....
truely said, it changes with person, time and situations....
moreover nobody would like to be "satyavardhan harishchandra" giving away everythin for "truth"
so "truth" hardly owns a position in today's world....

  4. dear madamji,

after reading this comprehension i came to conclusion that i have to read it again to reach some final conclusion, but one thing i concluded before reaching the final conclusion that this is an example of an abstract passage with abstruse tone(pun unintended). ergo i thought that ere my wild goose chase after the veracity of the term "truth" culminates in a cul-de-sac i request you to explain this in class...

    gratis.....
